On the 28th January we conducted a multi - agency operation in and around Adelaide St next to St Martin's church. This was due to ongoing anti-social behaviour and people setting up tents in the street. After a couple of weeks, I am pleased to say that the area feels much safer due to the removal of 8 or so tents. A male was also arrested for failing to appear at Crown Court. The council were on hand to assist the homeless people present with housing options and referrals to partner agencies for help with alcohol, drugs and other needs. Signs have also been placed in the area to highlight that there is a PSPO (Public Space Protection Order) to control drinking in the street. Two weeks have passed and I am glad to say that area feels much safer and the local businesses were very grateful for our efforts in dealing with this long standing issue.
